Real advice for real work delivered monthly

What you need to know this month

  • One landscaper got $17K from ChatGPT
  • 3 easy moves to show up in AI search
  • The full AI search playbook (live demo + Q&A)
  • Free review scripts to use right after the job
  • What "buying back your time" actually looks like

One contractor landed a $17K job from ChatGPT

Customers are turning to AI to find service pros—and it’s leading to real work.

“A contractor in California, he does landscape lighting. He generated a $17,000 job straight from ChatGPT.”

— Phil Risher, Phlash Consulting

If your business isn’t showing up, you're out before the phone even rings. Fix that with these 3 easy ways to get found in AI search.

Want the full AI search playbook? Service pro Kasy Allen of Wheatley Creek Services is covering exactly that in her live session on May 21.

1. Build reviews and always respond

AI pulls reviews from platforms like Google, Yelp, and Facebook to decide who to trust. A steady flow of fresh, positive reviews and responses to every single one tells the algorithm you're the real deal.

Two things to do:

  1. Send a review link to happy customers right after the job

  2. Respond to every review within a day or two

“Reviews still matter. They matter a lot. Try your best to get as many reviews as you possibly can. It's okay to bug people and ask for a review.” — Kasy Allen, Wheatley Creek Services

2. Prove you're the local authority

Local awards, sponsorships, and well-known clients tell AI you're established in your area, not just a name in a database.

Highlight your local involvement on your homepage and service pages, including any relevant logos and photos.

"Anything that you can do from a local community perspective, it allows these platforms to recognize that you are the authority in the space.”

— Phil Risher, Phlash Consulting

3. Create content that answers real questions

Social posts, short videos, and simple blog answers all help AI understand what you do and when to recommend you.

Focus on:

  • Posting consistently, even if it's just a few times a week
  • Answering FAQs (e.g., pricing, what to expect)

“Think about the questions that you're getting asked in sales. Those questions should be on your website in FAQs or in blog posts answering those questions.” – Kasy Allen, Wheatley Creek Services

This is just the start. On May 21, Kasy Allen is breaking down the whole playbook, including how to set up your website, pricing page, and FAQs, so AI recommends you first. Save your spot.

IN THE NEWS

Microsoft. NABTU teamed up with Microsoft to bring free AI training to the trades. These tools are already showing up on job sites, might as well learn them for free.

Fortune. Lowe's is spending $250 million to train 250,000 plumbers, carpenters, and electricians. When a retail giant bets that big on the trades, the demand signal is hard to ignore.

For Construction Pros. Crews are slammed, and construction jobs are piling up. Busy is great, but without a system, it’s just chaos. If you don't have one, that's the thing to fix.

AP News. AI data centers can't run without skilled trades. Tech companies are funding the training to keep up, which means more demand and a new niche worth chasing. Look up what's being built in your state and get in early.

FROM THE JOBBER COMMUNITY

What does “buying back your time” actually look like in a home service business?

For some owners, it’s hiring a bookkeeper or admin. For others, it’s finally making it to their kids’ sports games and golfing on Fridays with the team.

What does it look like in your business? See what other pros are doing to get their time back and join the conversation in the Home Service Community.

TIPS FROM THE FIELD

Your reviews don’t just help customers trust you anymore.

They help AI recommend you, too. These free copy-and-paste scripts are what you say right after the job is done. That way, when someone asks AI who to call, your name is already there.

SEO isn't dead. AI just gave it a second job.

Dedicated service pages, local area pages, optimized content, and a maxed-out Google Business Profile can get you 100+ local leads a month, from both Google and AI.

STRAIGHT FROM THE JOB SITE

Blue Collar By Choice Rug

Before you go, here’s a little ASMR break.

We can’t explain why this is so satisfying to watch…but we can't stop watching this collab with Bill Wave, ‘The Rug Guy’ either.

Tomorrow, someone near you will ask AI for a recommendation in your trade. Make sure it’s you. If this issue helped, forward it to someone who could use a few more leads this month.
